What does financial literacy really mean? On this episode of From Middle Class to Millions, money mindset coach Shannon Brome-Ward explains financial literacy in plain English. It has nothing to do…
And you're like, you still haven't told us what the hell financial literacy is.
And honestly, I can tell you a couple of things about what it isn't.
All right.
It's not about more terms.
It's not about more spreadsheets.
It's it's it's really not about that.
OK, it's not.
And it's about learning a few things that you need to think about so that you can make decisions.
Right.
So first of all, the one thing that financial literacy is, is knowing where your money is going and why it's going where it's going.
If you don't know where your money's going and why you're spending it or putting it in certain places, that is always going to create angst for you.
You're always going to feel confused about what the heck is going on.
And I know this is particularly important to folks who are making money for the first time, who are maybe out of debt for the first time, or people... who never had anybody talk to them about money.
And they're like, what? Right.
That is incredibly important.
Financial literacy is also being able to make decisions without spiraling.
OK, one of the things that I find so important for people who make money and more what I've observed for people who have money, they make decisions and they make the decisions quickly.
None of this perseverating over should I, could I, would I, will I? None of that shit.
What are we going to do? When are we going to do it? How are we going to do it? Let's go.
Because the motto that I live by is you may not make the right decision, but you can always make the decision
right.
You may not make the right decision, but you could always make the decision right.
So even if we make the decision quickly, we can turn it around.
