Football Fever Cup Edition: Stars Shine, All Whites Under Pressure

But let's look at today's games.

And as I say, the stars shining brightly.

Argentina 2, Austria 0 in Dallas.

The defending champions are safely through to the knockout rounds without conceding a goal.

But this was all about Lionel Messi, who turns 39 tomorrow.

Are there any more words for this bloke?

Mate, it's just incredible, isn't it? And, you know, I was actually thinking coming in here today, it was a great win for Lionel Messi.

Lionel Messi 2, Austria 0.

And obviously that's because he scores the goals.

But, Piney, I can't help but wonder, is Argentina just a bit of a one-man show? And, look...

I know it's a great man.

If you're going to have one player in the world, it's going to be him.

But man, it just seems to me, you even look at the way that he scored that second goal.

He did it all by himself.

It was almost as though, you know, he provides a ball on a silver platter for Julian Alvarez.

He can't get the job done.

And so he just goes, oh, fine, I'll do it myself.

You know, and that is just the way it's going.

He obviously misses a penalty to start with, which was, you know, surprising in itself.

And, you know, the reality is it could have been Lionel Messi for Austria nil.

But he scores two.

He's just getting it done.

And nothing has changed about this guy.

And age does not weary this man.

And, you know, there's a lot of talk at this World Cup about Cristiano Ronaldo and how, you know, perhaps he's just gone one too far here.
