**Fine Line & Whiskey Podcast** Nick and Brian are back breaking down everything from this weekend in NASCAR. From race strategy and mechanical failures to the latest headlines around the garage…
Yeah, I will say just being at the race myself, something that I don't think fans are seeing on the broadcast as much and not many people are earning as a bit to get to a road course.
But being my first road course I've ever been to and seeing it in person, dude, those cars are hauling ass.
And you just don't really see that through the broadcast because of the angles and the depth that they're choosing to shoot their images and be able to portray that back to the fans.
I was seeing Gibbs up front.
at the beginning of basically both stages and his subsequent finishes in both the stages, that guy was hauling ass, dude.
I don't know how, maybe it's the brake package with these cars, but I feel like when I'm on a high racing or when I'm watching the race on a broadcast, uh, These cars don't feel like they're going that fast, but seeing at a ground level, like being in the infield, being at the bottom half of different perspectives on the racetrack, I mean, they are hauling ass.
Now, if you're in the braking zone, that's obviously not true because physics, right? But these guys, I swear, the braking points that I thought...
I would be picking as you know a fellow iRacer is much different than what the Cup guys are doing and I mean they are breaking super late and they are quick like the acceleration to full speed even in some of these apexes is ungodly and I wish you know I know you were upset because we didn't invite you to Sonoma but have you ever been to a road course?
But not with a cop
car, right?
It was some sports car events and stuff like that.
Yeah.
Dude, you got to come out here, man.
And I say this because I expected in totality... that this race would be kind of like the way you elaborated very perfectly on, but seeing the cars and it's like prime position, you would think stage one, everybody's kind of conserving, trying to extend the life cycle on the tires and whatnot.
That did not, from my fan perspective, they didn't look like they were saving a damn bit at all.
Well,
I think being there in person is, It adds that extra layer of excitement.
It's no different when we went to Richmond.
We were standing on the walkway by the catch fence on the green flag.
And we're like, holy crap, they're hauling ass.
Yeah,
it's
like, man.
