Maybe you're doing Sober September, maybe you're feeling really good, or maybe some of the benefits of having alcohol out of your system haven't quite, you know, struck you quite yet.

And so today, this is why I wanna talk about alcohol and perimenopause again.

It's all about is wine making your symptoms worse? Quitting drinking and removing alcohol isn't going to magically solve all of the perimenopause symptoms.

But you know when you're drinking, and you wake up, it's a little after 3:00 in the morning, and you're like, "Why am I awake again?" And this, this element of being hot and thirsty, and your heart is beating a little faster, and for some reason your brain has decided that this is the perfect time to just, like, think about the to-do list or all of the things that you have going on in your life, and all of the people who have wronged you, and all of the nights that you've woken up at 3:00 in the morning mad at yourself, and you're just lying there like, "What is happening to me? Is this perimenopause, or is this because of all the wine that I drank last night, or is it both?" Because if you're in your 40s or 50s and you suddenly feel like your body has just changed all of the rules on you, I know how confusing this can be.

You've been really trying to drink less, but suddenly the wine does not feel the way it used to.

You're sleeping worse, you're more anxious in the morning, and your energy is just, like, nonexistent, and your patience is also nonexistent.

[chuckles] And a night that used to feel fun now is taking, like, half the weekend to recover from.

Now listen, like, we're not in our 20s anymore, or even our thir- early 30s.

But when we're in this stage of perimenopause or menopause, it's like our bodies need more.

We love the version of us in our 20s or early 30s who was able to have so much fun, and she drank, and that was part of her life, and maybe there were reasons that, you know, we drank that we're not proud of.

But either way, we have evolved, and now we're just not that version of ourselves.

Her habits, her lifestyle habits, her drinking habits are not going to support the woman that we are today.

And we don't wanna be recovering all the time from drinking, or, like, when we already are dealing with perimenopause symptoms.

And so you're hearing about perimenopause everywhere, the sleep changes, the mood changes, the, I don't know, the night sweats, the brain fog, like, all of these changes in our body.

And so this is exactly why I think alcohol deserves a much bigger place in the perimenopause conversation.
