So that also means that the local gastroenterology department had a strong endoscopic focus.

Yes, there were some basic researchers, particularly in liver disease, that would grow and the research department has grown very, very nicely.

But at that time it was known as a clinical program and it was really Glenn that was the driver of that.

Yeah, I was visiting Indiana University a few times.

I remember the first US FNAs with inside cytology and it lasted forever.

The guy looking 15 minutes and then another pass and so on and so on.

But very nice people also.

Stu Sherman, Doug Rex was there.

An enormous continuity of people.

Yeah, so I guess I'm the black sheep in the family.

But yeah, it started out with Glenn.

Doug Rex was in my medical school class.

Interestingly, he was sort of encouraged to do a year of basic science.

The division director at that time wanted Doug to become a basic scientist and he went off to Purdue and did some molecular some molecular biology work and then came back and just said I don't want to do this I want to be a clinician but Doug had stayed around Stu Sherman stayed you know for a long time he was not he didn't grow up in the IU system but he came as an advanced fellow and then came back and And so there has been great continuity.

Glenn spent his entire career at IU.

So there was a lot of continuity.

At this time, endoscopy, the royal discipline was ERCP, right? Yes.

Yeah.

Where polyps and everything else was...

Sort of routine.

Done as a routine.

As a routine.

And so Glenn... was really good at ERCP.

And we had a good volume of ERCPs at that time.

But yeah, ERCP was the king, yeah.
