Is tokenization pointless until you can borrow against it? This week, we sit down with Kamino's new CEO Michael Weisz on why he left fintech to build the onchain credit layer. We explore Kamino's…

I want Kamino to become the most consequential deep liquidity solution for all assets on-chain.

That means that any asset that you own that's on-chain, you should be able to get more utility out of it.

So if you think about, like, a lot of the assets that's sitting within people's portfolios, you buy that asset, you're exposed to that risk-return profile, and you sit and wait.

So for example, if I'm investing in a private credit strategy or if I have a tokenized equity, why can't I borrow against it? Why can't I lever it? Why can't I generate more yield? And so on Tradfri rails, that wasn't possible.

Uh, Kamino has the largest tokenized equities borrow/lend markets, and so that, that capability already exists.

What's lacking is bringing the institutional Tradfi ecosystem on-chain and then providing utility for those customers who hold or own those assets.

And to me, that means that you can do much more with your money, and you can build a healthier, better portfolio over time.

So what happens is, in my mind's eye, you have a road, and on that road is great asset managers on one end and great distribution on the other.

And you want those assets to be able to seamlessly be made available to all of the different users, institutions, individuals, wealth platforms, retirement platforms, et cetera.
