Camel City or Bust!

Meet Tasha.

If you designed the perfect rental customer in a lab, you would get Tasha.

She's responsible, careful, returns the car clean, and she rented from Avis to go to a memorial service to see her brother

in Illinois.

Not exactly a party trip, though I do see how a cigarette and a nice stiff drink could help.

While driving? When else? Okay, well,

it was a somber trip, needless to say.

At the end, she checked her car and there was no warning light, no damage.

Nobody at the counter said a word to her.

But a few days later, she gets this receipt in her

inbox.

$450 for a special deep cleaning because she smoked, plus a fuel charge of more than $30 for four gallons of gas, which is strange because she filled the tank at a shell station less than a mile from the airport.

So now she's accused of smoking she didn't do and billed for gas she did not burn.

I don't know about you, but cancer survivors aren't exactly known for their inveterate smoking habits.

Yeah, right.

So she disputed

the charges right away.

And Avis came back, not with an apology, but it sent

her a PDF.

There were extremely grainy photos of butts, to the point where you couldn't even really tell if it was a butt.

Hate it when that happens.

Anyway, the photos Avis sent her showed no ash or burn marks on the seats.

Tasha said the stains they were trying to convey looked more like spots of water.

So Avis's theory is that she was smoking so much, her secondhand smoke precipitated into rain within the confines of her car.

Makes total sense.
