This episode we interview Linda Robinson, the Gift Officer of Beyond Housing For more information about this great organization, please check out their website: https://beyondhousing.org/ This…
What do you think St. Louis does well when it comes to supporting people experiencing housing instability and poverty?
We might come in and bring in products that a family need to get them by, food, whatever it may be.
Until you really understand what the organization is doing and the needs of those families, Monetarily, it's great, but when you come in and volunteer with an organization like you two ladies, you can probably tell about half of the nonprofits in St. Louis because you have volunteered, you've seen the work, you can be their advocate, and you go back and tell others to support them.
Even though I volunteer, how can I volunteer more of my talent and time? How can I be that advocate and bring people together and say, hey, did you know Beyond Housing is doing this? or get more companies to bring volunteers in because we all know volunteers are the advocates when they go back to their company that they work for to say, hey, I've seen it for myself.
So many companies have employees who are so talented outside of what they do.
Beyond housing, we have so many apartments and rentals out there that we need people to come in and say, hey, give us your skill, landscaping skill.
And that's why I want more of St. Louis is when we talk about giving back, give back your time and talent and treasure.
Treasure is something that someone will always cherish and remember once you left them.
So one of the best quotes I did hear Chris say is zip code now is more important than your genetic code.
