We did a big talk, a big series earlier this year on financial mastery and the eight pillars of financial mastery for entrepreneurs.
And the first one in that is master your finances and your financial statements.
I was actually just talking with an entrepreneur this morning, who a guy I respect, he works really hard.
And he was kind of confiding in me that like, hey, earlier, before a year ago, I didn't have good financial statements.
I had no idea of what my margins were, if I could price things correctly, if I could raise prices, if I was pricing too heavily.
He was, in his words, flying blind because he didn't have that good He didn't have a good P&L.
And a big part of it is understanding the interplay between, let's say, your P&L and your balance statement and how that all flows together.
And it was great having to chat with a lot of these founders throughout the course of the week.
I have a finance background, so you take it for granted, but this is not something that all entrepreneurs have.
And it's possible to get quite a way down the road without deeply understanding those things.
So first thing I'd recommend to be able to do, build a great business and a great rich life along the way in concert with each other, Master Your Finances.
Financial Literacy for Entrepreneurs is a great book if you have not read that and a lot of self-taught things you could do.
Obviously, this is not a... groundbreaking piece of advice, but it is so good for just learning anything.
The other day, I was trying to learn some music theory and some more complex guitar chords because I enjoy playing guitar.
And being able to sit and just talk with Claude, not only could it give me the details, but it could create custom charts and graphs and one of the best mentors for pretty much any topic.
