Now, the reason most people don't get respected is because they're too busy trying to get everyone to like them.

They agree with things that they don't even agree with, and they soften every opinion just in case someone disagrees.

But this will never get you respect because the moment you start performing for approval, people see you as someone who needs something from them.

So the real problem isn't that people don't respect you, it's actually that you don't respect yourself enough.

You don't push back when you disagree, and you don't charge what you're actually worth.

Every single one of those moments teaches people that you're not someone who deserves respect.

So what do you do about this? So you hold your standards and boundaries even when it's awkward.

You say the thing you actually believe even when the rest of the room might disagree with you, and you learn to say no, 'cause when you say no, you show people you've got boundaries and you're not trying to please them.

So imagine you're at a dinner with people, and you really want to impress them.

One of them says something you might actually disagree with, maybe it's a take on business or an opinion about something that you know a lot about, and the whole table is nodding along.

The old version of you laughs and just says, "Yeah, totally," because you don't wanna be the person who ruins the vibe.

But the moment you do that, you become invisible because you're just another person agreeing, so they'll forget about you the second you leave.

You wait, and you say, "Actually, I see it completely differently," without making a big deal about it, and in that moment, the whole room shifts.

Someone leans in, and whether they agree with you or not, you've just become the most interesting person at the table 'cause you're the only one willing to hold a position the room might push back on.

So stop trying to be liked, and instead act like someone who respects their own boundaries, opinions, and worth.
