Ever feel like you're doing everything "right" with money but still counting down to payday just to feel free? This week Maddie & Meghan break down "escape mode" money — why so many responsible…
But you're still somehow counting down to payday just to feel like you're living, to get that excitement of
money hitting your account.
And I think a lot of people feel this way.
So I'm just going to call it as it is.
You can be financially responsible, but still feel financially trapped.
And today's episode isn't about doing more.
It's about building a plan you do not need a vacation from.
And if your financial plan only works on your most disciplined days, it's not a real plan for your life.
Yes, definitely.
And really what we're talking about is you want to kind of escape from any sort of mindset mode that makes you feel trapped.
So maybe you're one who is really just living for the weekends, living for the trips and the splurges, and you feel deprived on your normal weeks.
And you really think that budgeting equals restriction and if you think that way then you definitely have not been listening to us because we think budgeting is like budgeting for your life that you want to live or you feel like when you're spending money you just feel guilty or rebellious against it and really if you're feeling this way where you feel like your budget is restricted or when you spend money, you feel guilt or that you're rebellious, the root cause is most likely because your plan is built on rigid rules and not values.
And really, this could result because you're maybe copying from someone else's ideal version and not built around your actual life or your money style, wink, wink.
And so this is not being about, you know, not being disciplined because there are plenty of super disciplined people that build plans and build financial plans, I should reiterate on, that make them miserable.
You could have like a super disciplined person who's like good at work and like, you know, is working out when they're supposed to be working out.
But then the money plan is just making them absolutely miserable.
And so this is for you.
If you feel like your money plan is just something to survive until the weekend and it's just not good.
And I'll tell you, this like resonates.
I saw... a commercial recently on some streaming thing because I don't pay for ad free because I'm that person.
But it was about this ad where there's this company that will split your rent up into two.
So it'll pay 50-50, but I don't know what the fees are.
Let's just build a plan so we don't need to do that and buy a service to be able to do that.
It just seemed like not solving the root cause.
You're solving for the symptom.
