You know, it wasn't my first go around with grief.

I lost a good friend, a woman I knew when I was living in San Francisco to a drug overdose when I was like 24, you know, and then lost my dad in 2009.

Then, of course, we lost the boys last year, you know, my nephews.

And it's gotten me thinking, in the meantime, I also became a hospice volunteer.

I love that.

And, you know, I've done some different work and the different ways that grief shows up.

You know, for me, it shows up in the tightness.

There's a tightness that never really goes away.

It loosens.

But it's just, there's a constriction to it.

Yes.

You know? But there's the different types.

There's, you know, my personal grief of losing Christine and the suicide and some of the regrets that came with that.

My dad died after a three-year illness.

He was 62, which is young now since I'm coming up on that.

You know, I'm not too far away.

It is

young.

But it was still somewhat natural.

You know, he had brain cancer.

He was sick for three years and he died.

Um, the boys, you know, my nephews, River and Jet, that's a whole different kind of grief.

And then watching my sister's grief, that sympathetic grief, you know how you get sympathetic joy for someone, you know, you're really happy when they're happy.

Yeah.

Well, the sympathetic grief that I have with my sister and just wishing that I could take some of that from her.
