Dating comes with a lot of frustrating uncertainty. You can’t know if attraction will grow, whether someone will choose the relationship, or how another person will react when you tell them the truth…
And I don't usually do this, but since it's my 300th episode, I'm going to do a round of rapid-fire questions at the end.
Dating makes us feel out of control, and there's so much uncertainty, so we're often just grasping for anything we feel like we can influence or have a say in or, at worst, manipulate to get the outcome we want.
And what happens is, when we're trying to control everything, we spin our wheels on questions like, "Is it too early to bring this up?" Or, "How do I get this person to commit to me?" Or, "If I sleep with this person, will they get the wrong idea?" We do our best to make decisions aligned with our values and morals, but it can be hard to trust that in dating when on the other side you have a whole ass other person.
You don't really know what they're thinking, feeling, or what they actually want early on before a lot of trust is built and when you've gotten to know them.
And our reaction to this tends to be trying to feel in control instead of just letting things play out.
It's hard to just sit in the, "I wonder what happens" or just fuck around and find out.
The question I wanna pose for you and for you to think about in this episode is: What would you do differently in your dating life if you knew everything was going to work out exactly as it was supposed to? That's one of my favorite questions to ask myself.
Like, what would I be doing right now if I just knew that everything would be okay and everything was gonna work out? So with that being said, let's dive in.
