299. How to Stay Open When You’re Fed Up With Dating w/ Serena Kerrigan

[upbeat music] Welcome, Serena Kerrigan, to the Dating Intentionally Podcast.

I, I mean, this has been a long time coming, honestly.

I've always wanted to have you on.

[chuckles]

I appreciate you having me.

It's, I'm so excited to be here.

Yes.

Well, okay, we have a lot to get into, including your book, "Let's Fucking Date." I, th- this book, when I read it, I was like, "I'm so amped about dating just reading this," and we need more positivity in the dating conversation right now.

So I'm just really glad that you wrote this book.

I appreciate that so much.

That was really what I was trying to go for.

I've always been obsessed with dating books.

I know you love them as well.

I thought they were so helpful, like, when I was single or, like, they made me less, feel less insane.

But I just felt like there was nothing updated for 2026 for that woman who is making her own money, who is...

And because my book, while m- men, the gays can definitely take something away from it, I did obviously write it for the heterosexual woman 'cause I'm speaking to my own experience.

But anyway, I felt like they are making their own money.

They have their careers.

They have their side hustles, and they can totally provide for themselves financially, but they're looking for that emotional provider in a man, and what does that look like in 2026? And, like, how can you be the prize while still wanting to be taken care of, you know-

Yes

... beyond financially necessarily.

It's a tricky balance.

It really is.

It's changing.

We're in this like, I think we're in this, like, puberty phase of dating in this, like, new era of what it's gonna be like, and books like yours help us navigate it, so I'm so glad that it exists, and I just can't wait for people to get their hands on it.
