For years, the Iowa State Fair has prided itself as one of the United States' most popular agricultural celebrations, but this year's edition has found itself to be a quasi-negotiation spot for Canada-U.S. trade.

Canadian pork producers, specifically from Manitoba, have been making their case to American farmers.

The province ships more than 3 million young pigs to the U.S. each year, with about 2 million going to Iowa.

Canadian officials say both countries benefit from the trade relationship, as 50 percent tariffs on some Canadian goods loomed this week.

Police are asking for the public's help at finding a missing 73-year-old pilot who took off from a home-built aircraft and failed to return.

The pilot, identified only as David, departed from the Oshawa airport at 8.30 a.m. on Friday and was expected to return that same morning an hour later.

Police say he's an experienced pilot, and his last known location is believed to be around Balsam Lake.

The federal government's first major project, the $2.3 billion Port of Montreal expansion, is officially underway, with construction beginning on a new wharf in Contresour, just downriver from Montreal.

The project is expected to boost the port's container capacity by 60%, with the new terminal set to open in 2030.
