And in the comp category, we talked about Joe Carnichale, who I don't, I could be wrong.
I'm not sure that there's ever been an NHRA world champion from the state of Rhode Island.
but there must be something in the water in Rhode Island because our leader in Superstock also hails from that state.
And honestly, as strong as Carnachal looks to be in Competition Eliminator, I detailed that last episode, I'd argue that Justin Piccolo's odds of winning the 2026 title are even better than that of his ocean state brethren.
So Piccolo, behind the wheel of Pat Glade's Superstock machine, he's driven to five final rounds, including four wins already in 2026.
And he's done that? in just eight appearances thus far in the season his current 555 point total is skewed a little bit because he's only been to one national event thus far this season which you might have guessed he won um by simply staging for first round at two additional national events piccolo runs his total is 615.
now 615 alone is not typically a championship total, specifically in a class like Superstock.
But given the season he's having, adding a few win lights to that tally doesn't seem like a crazy expectation.
Nothing is easy at this point in the season, but I like his chances of getting to 650.
So the biggest hurdle for him in any division one contender at this point in the national championship is probably just logistics, right? To fill a national event ledger.
piccolo and his team they would have to attend five basically all five remaining sportsman national events to fill that ledger now you get to claim your best three out of six you don't necessarily have to go to all of them if you if you win a couple and he's already won one um but just for clarity of this like a trip to Rockingham doesn't seem that seems to be a given at this point for Piccolo and his team an excursion to St. Louis that's a bit more daunting but likely doable but then to extend that beyond St. Louis to Dallas to Vegas to Pomona from Rhode Island, that sounds challenging.
That might be the biggest thing standing in Justin Piccolo's way of ultimately winning this championship.
