Did Adam and Eve Have Belly Buttons, Will There be Birthdays in Heaven, and More!

It's a classic.

Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons? Because they weren't born.

So did they have a

belly button? I feel like this is such a classic.

It

is.

It's like everyone at some point hears this in church and then asks their siblings or their friends or whoever because it's like, what? Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons? I don't know.

We don't have time to get into this.

I'm sure we've had other episodes where we've talked about the fact that The story of Adam and Eve and especially the first three chapters of Genesis are not intended to be read as like a super literal account of the first two humans.

Not impossible that they could have existed and that could really be the story.

But it's more trying to describe in general terms like what kind of creatures humans are, how sin entered the story, what the effects of that are.

So if Adam and Eve.

were real historical people, which could be, could be not.

Would they have belly buttons? I guess no.

Whoa, really? Interesting.

I mean, do you think they would have belly buttons because just humans do? On principle.

So they would have the, yeah.

But would they have a full umbilical cord?

No, but they weren't born – they weren't created as babies.

That's true.

That's true.

But I'm going to argue, which sounds ridiculous because I'm probably wrong, that they have all the characteristics of a human being, a human body.

And human bodies.

And

human bodies have belly buttons.
