The demonstration brought a range of critical regional issues to the fore, from energy projects cutting through prime farmland to neglected roads, to an underfunded CFA bracing for fire season.

And at the moment, this government particularly has become quite toxic in its attitude, particularly towards rural Victoria, but also it's flown on here into the city as well.

I mean, talking to people here in the city about cost of living, You know, the energy crisis is just causing so much pain on people and the goods and services are now costing more, you know, and people getting the transport, getting food to Melbourne, it's going to become a huge issue when we won't be able to get drivers that like to drive a truck on these unsafe roads.

Yeah, look, we've always said that if the government kept on the same track, that we would actually instigate another rally, and that's what we did.

So, you know, combining with our friends and the CFA volunteers, as well as all the groups from all the various parts of Victoria and even here in the city where the AI centres are being built, that's all big issues that are affecting all Victorians.

And so, you know, the concept of the rally was around uniting Victoria, but also launching our... campaign from the Across Victoria Alliance in Shut the Door and that's our move towards trying to have a better Victoria after the 28th of November.
Do you feel like much has changed since the last time you took to the steps of Parliament?

I mean, we've now seen government coming out and making announcements about pouring funding back into the CFA.

You know, it's a little bit too little, too late and quite shallow if you think about the attitude they had towards Victorians around the emergency services and volunteers tax, specifically taxing the people heavier than anyone, and they're the ones providing the service at the same time.

on people and that's been found out for what it is so you know the coalition have obviously agreed to scrap that and go back to what we had previously and at least be managed better and more transparency around the funds being used and that's what one of the issues here is that victoria you know the cfmu in 15 billion dollars that apparently has been wasted and potentially more there's got to be a lot of teeth in that process to try and find out really what's going on and who's accountable
