I mean, the, if, there were, there were a lot of changes that came in in April, um, this year.

Um, and I won't go into all of them now, uh, because in October, we've had a lot more changes either come in already or are going to come in.

Um, so for example, the employment tribunal limitations, uh, changed on the 1st of October this year, which means that now an employee previously had three months to bring a claim.

They've now got six months to bring a claim, which does mean that there is an extended period now for an employee, um, to bring a claim, which means that we are going to see more in the tribunals, um, without a doubt.

And I think about the times where people will phone me, and they think they've got a claim, and I say, "I'm really sorry.

Um, so we're more exposed as employers now to, uh, tribunal cases, so more of a reason to get this right.

Um, that coupled with the fact that you, the reduction in when, the time limit for when somebody can bring an unfair dismissal claim is already really enforced.

Because it comes in in January, however, i- if you're taking on anyone now, um, no longer will it be two years continuous service, um, whereby we have this freedom, which is relatively low risk to dismiss somebody.

Um, so it is more of a reason to look at those probationary periods and make sure that we are using them effectively.

I don't know why you would hang on to anybody who, um, didn't have, uh, the skill or the attitude to be part of your team.

I, I do believe that a lot of employers believe that they can change people, and they say, "Oh, I give them another three months.

And I understand it's busy when you're running a business, and sometimes things get put to the back.

You know, it's not always, uh, the, on, high on the agenda to let a team member go, but actually, this is going to be really important, um, because we have to make decisions fast.

We have to make sure we have a good recruitment process in place, um, so that we get better team, team.
