Our resources of time, space, energy, and money must be managed and protected. In this episode we will discuss how our everyday purchases and the decision to hold on to a given item, can be seen…
It has been a really good practice though to be there with them and say, okay, what are we planning to buy today? We're not just going shopping and randomly purchasing things.
We're on a mission to get certain items.
When we first got here, we were on a mission to get tennis shoes for my nine year old daughter and my five year old daughter.
Their shoes needed to be replaced.
They just couldn't even go another week wearing the shoes they were wearing.
And we're lucky they made it as far as they did.
But we were like, that is our top priority.
They definitely need new tennis shoes.
So we went that day with that in mind.
We knew there were other things that were on our list, but the tennis shoes were the first thing we looked for.
We got lucky.
They both got the shoes.
And another item that we were looking for was a blender, which is something that my kids kept asking about when we were at all of the Airbnbs all summer traveling.
They kept asking if is there a blender here when we would get to a new Airbnb? Because we typically use a blender and make a smoothie in the morning or midday.
It's a great way to get vegetables and fruits into the diet.
We do that a lot typically, but we didn't have a blender for that entire time that we were So when we got here, we knew that we wanted to buy a blender and get back into our routine.
So a blender was something that we were also on the lookout for when we first got here to Doha.
I also needed professional clothing because I wore sports clothes all summer and purposely just had pretty much a uniform of tennis shoes, yoga pants, sport clothes everywhere.
And it made traveling very easy, carrying things, carrying kids, all of that.
But obviously, when we got here, I am taking on a role as a school leader and I needed to wear something other than sports clothes.
So that was another priority to just getting some outfits.
And I had to be really strategic about buying things that I could sort of mix and match.
And I stuck with a lot of solid items that didn't have super memorable patterns and things like that because I thought, OK, I'm going to need to.
mix and match these items and get creative, especially like that first week that I was working and I made it and I'm still doing okay with the wardrobe, but I might need to add a couple pieces just to help create outfits.
So other than those initial things that we bought, we were also just living life and thinking about what we needed along the way.
