No matter where you’re watching from or what this week has held, we’re glad you’re here. At Cloverhill Church, we believe God meets us right where we are and lovingly calls us forward. Our hope is…
So listen, I don't live under a rock I know money is a touchy sp- subject.
I know talking about money in church is an extra, extra, [laughs] extra touchy subject.
And so if you're visiting with us today, welcome to church.
[laughs] Thank you so much for being here.
Uh, no, but I hope you hear my heart when I say this, is, uh, I can make you one promise, and that is we are not after your money.
We are not after your money.
Yeah, I, I, I promise you, we are not after your money.
But I also wanna make a promise in that same breath, and that is that Jesus is after your heart.
Amen.
Yeah.
Yeah.
And so as we look at the text today, we see Paul address the topic of money really, really directly, and he answers four questions in regards to giving to the Church.
And I'm just gonna give you those questions upfront, and, and the first question is, hey, who is supposed to give? Who's supposed to give in this thing? Well, how much are we supposed to give? When are we supposed to give? And what is our giving for? And we're gonna walk through each of these, and my hope, again, my hope it is if we do, we align ourselves with scripture, and we walk out of here confident in our giving.
Not feeling manipulated, not feeling guilty, no pressure, but we walk out of here confident in our giving.
And so the first question that Paul answers is, hey, who's supposed to do...
Who's supposed to give? And it's found in verse two.
It's each one of you.
Someone say that.
Each- One of you ... one of you.
Look, Paul doesn't go to the church in Corinth and say, "Hey, hey.
I, I, I need you to pull together all the wealthy people and, and I'm gonna ask them for an offering." He, he doesn't pull up to the neighborhood and, you know, he's taking a little walk in the neighborhood and he sees all the biggest houses in the neighborhood, he goes, "Okay, yeah, we need money from that person, that person, that person, that person." No, that's not what he does.
He says everyone needs to give.
That's because giving is personal.
