We have three children and I have the privilege of leading the team here at City Hill.
Before diving into my message for today, a little bit of an update on the next-gen building project.
If you came into the building through from the right-hand side, from the kids' side, you might have noticed that the jungle gyms that have served us so well for the last 12 or 13 years, everything got cleared out this week in preparation for the builders arriving tomorrow morning.
I've been reflecting that when Jax and I moved here in 2012 from Peter Maritzburg to come... take over the leadership here at City Hill of the team here.
And at that time in 2012, there were actually the cranes were on site, building the existing office block and the existing kids facility.
What a privilege to be building an extension for future generations of children, and of course the big wraparound veranda.
So we are trusting God for all of his provision for all of that, but it is very, very exciting, and we'll share more updates in due course.
A little while ago, I was visiting, I do this regularly, preach at other churches, and one of the privileges of doing that is you get to spend time with a couple leading that team at that church.
And at this one particular church I was visiting, we had spent a long time, we'd actually gone out for a long walk, myself and this other guy, this other pastor, and we were talking about all things church-related, leadership, staffing, challenges, joys, etc., And at one point in the weekend, he said to me, I notice you use this phrase a lot, growth mindset.
Is that on purpose? I said I hadn't actually noticed it, but it is an idea I'm very passionate about.
If you've got pen and paper, I'm going to be reading from the parable of the sower, Luke 8, and then putting a picture up with three circles to illustrate what developing a growth mindset looks like.
