Tell us a little bit about some of the challenges you've faced on this site, dealing with live traffic on the far side, albeit this is a closed lane.

Yeah, on a general scheme, and we're lucky here that we have a full closure, that the biggest criteria is the diversion route for the traffic.

Is it suitable for the volume of traffic? Is it suitable for all types of traffic going to be using it? We apply for a road closure order six weeks in advance.

Then on a weekly basis we apply for road space booking, which allows the central control to notify them of all gantries that can be signalled, notifying the public that the road works ahead, diversion is in place.

and then on an unlikely basis our traffic management is set up at 10 o'clock.

The road is fully closed, the traffic use the diversion route and then generally between half five and six o'clock every morning the road is open again.

So the advantage we have here is that the road is fully closed, each of the access points is manned so we control who enters the closure.
