Is having fun at work killing your church's productivity? Short answer: no. In this episode of the Church Staff Book Club, Jonathan Malm and Jason Young walk through Chapter 10 of their book Likable…
This is like one of the last like steps or like practical like points of the book.
Of course, being likable is not just about getting people to like you, but it's really about, as a leader, getting to become a person that people love to follow.
So I think the title of the chapter is key that you set the tone for camaraderie and fun.
Likeable leaders, they create this environment where people enjoy working together.
So you read the title and you're like, but man, I'm not fun or I'm not funny or I'm not a, you know, trustful kind of person.
This isn't about being the funniest person in the room or it's definitely not about forcing people into those awkward team building activities where everybody rolls their eyes.
What we are talking about is what if you were the leader? Imagine being the leader where people, they feel free to laugh.
So it doesn't all have to fall on you to be kind of the fun guy or gal or the activity guy or gal.
fact, I would even venture to say that often makes people unlikable when they're the ones trying to be the center of the fun.
