Send us Fan Mail What happens when the passion that brought you into early childhood education starts to feel like burnout? Kate Woodward Young sits…
LaTroya B.GuestCarrieHostUh, you know what? I think I just, like, heard, like, you, you read my book back to me.
I just finished a book, um, that I just wrote, and I was like I think I have that exact one in there somewhere.
Uh, but one of the things that I think is so important that I hope that whoever is listening, I don't care whether you are a director, an owner, a leader.
Maybe you haven't identified yourself as a leader.
Maybe you've just been, like, sneaking in, listening to some episodes 'cause you're not really sure you wanna say it out loud.
Um, I think what Latoya said is absolutely the most important thing you can get out of today's episode, which is you have to make the decision.
I can't make the decision for you.
Nobody else in the posse can make the decision for you.
You have to make the decision that you want something different.
And-
... your different doesn't necessarily have to look like Latoya's difference or somebody else's different.
You can be me- you can be literally a quality mentor, right? Like, you can work for a licensing agency.
You can be a trainer.
You can do something just a little bit part-time because you're like, "You know, I don't know if I really wanna give up leaving the classroom.
Definitely don't know if I wanna be in charge of other adults.
You know, maybe I really don't wanna have to have anything to do with those parents.
They just scare me." Uh, so, you know, understand [laughs] understanding what skills you bring, where your personal passion lies, and, and, you know, set some goals.
Because it's really hard to get anywhere if you don't know what your end destination is.
You know, if you're gonna go on vacation, most of us this time of year, I'm pretty sure, Latoya, if you said you were going on vacation, would you have a destination decided?
See? Now, now, and are you getting there with a map?
