75: The $52,000 You Donate Every Year - LYWAW Sessions 2 & 3

Let's start with looking at what your time is actually worth.

And looking at this, it's showing you what you're donating to your employer.

And if we take conservative numbers and say the average struggling physician spends seven hours a week charting outside of their patient care hours, And we just, we just sort of just cap it at seven hours a week, multiply that by 50 weeks a year of working.

Well, that's 350 hours.

And that 350 hours is unseen work.

And if you assign a financial value to that time here, I used $150 an hour, which is a conservative estimate of an hourly worth three 50 times one 50, you get over 52,000.

So.

Here I'm saying the time that you're giving up at home is worth $52,000 every single year.

And that's a car.

That's a chunk of a mortgage.

That's... student loans.

That's maybe college tuition for one of your kids.

And it's roughly two full months of, of work.

It works out to be about nine weeks.

So every single year you are essentially working for two extra months for free, totally invisible to your employer.

And you're donating that time and money back to the system for which you work.

So this really becomes less about just

money itself.

It's about what that time

represents to you.

So it's not in the evening saying,

oh,

I'm just tired tonight.

It's actually pausing and saying, you know, I'm writing a $52,000 check to my clinic every year and I'm paying for it with my actual life, like my time and my energy.

And I need to stop robbing myself and my family of that.
