Using the formal sit as a gift to invite the best friend of *sati, mindfulness* as a support in opening to our own selves.
Right at the beginning, can we feel how offering this particular gift is more than anything else a support? If the mind has a particular charge either running towards a sort of thought storm in these opening moments, if what has been going on before has a particular charge, either a running towards energetic thought storm, pull of rumination or worry, or if the charge is more in the direction of a fatigue, the no energy, the shielding against, then the gift of the moment can feel really challenging And it's so tempting for the system to fall into old habit stories.
What's wrong with me? Why can't I get it together? Snap out of it.
Mindfulness, sati, this best friend, offers itself to be with that too.
That is how this moment always becomes a gift.
And remembering that there is this receptive, friendly awareness that is available.
That is big enough, spacious enough, wide enough, accommodating enough, welcoming enough.
to have room for it all.
Right here, right now, that's what we are practicing.
Meeting all that arises, any of it, with this recognition ah, this is what's here.
And this allowing sati, mindfulness, to be a compassionate, wise, a wisdom space.
Big, wholehearted, wholehearted, compassionate space.
that understands this is being human.
This is the nature of these systems.
So how do you practice that? How do you practice it right now in this moment? what's here not what should be here but what's here even if what's here is the thought this isn't what should be here that's what's here what's here What is the infinitely compassionate space? The wisdom of deep understanding of nature.
One receives this with strong care.
Open.
allowing, feeling the difference between being caught in any storyline and knowing the observing of the storyline.
We practice with this opening enough that another friend of sati or friendly part of sati begins to arise.
what happens when you invite a curiosity to the flow of this moment now and wanting to see and know feel and understand the nature of this being human How does sati, your mindfulness, allow a wholehearted investigation, a willingness to be curious? How do I relax, open into the field of awareness in a way that allows a curiosity, a wanting to know about being human, the nature of being human with more clarity? in service of your freedom.
