This is the takeaway episode with John Licata, ServiceNow's futures director and quantum lead where Juan and Tim unpack what quantum means for enterprise data teams. They get into where quantum…

John LicataGuestSo we started off with John asking you, what does it mean to be quantum ready, right? That was sort of our honest, no BS question.
And you said that, Hey, you know, now we've got like billions of AI agents coming online.
And even more as we go forward around the safeguarding of all that data and all that AI information.
And there's a lot of vulnerabilities and there's a lot of opportunities that are emerging from that.
And that same thing is being applied directly to the world of and is true with the world of quantum and the quantum computing paradigm that's coming online.
And you gave a lot of really great examples of some different ways that this technology can be leveraged and used.
I'll steal a little bit of probably what's gonna be Juan's thunder, but this is not a several years away kind of thing.
You called it a staircase or a set of step functions, and that's how we need to be thinking about it.
So you mentioned about a lot of opportunities around around simulation, right? So new drug development, things like you gave the example of COVID, where the supply chain, if we remember right, was really brought to its knees when the pandemic first happened.
And you can use quantum to do all sorts of simulations of how these things can play out and make better decisions, right? That was a theme I feel like throughout our conversation was sort of quantum plus AI creates a whole new way to do enterprise workflows and decision making and global workflows and decision making that's going to have huge impacts new drugs personalized medicine generating new materials that have never done before new research and of course there's going to be all sorts of new things that we can do around analytics enterprise twin so we're moving beyond what you call this world of ones and zeros and uh and unleashing the possibility of technology where you've got all the possibilities in between And the ability to do an unlimited number of things in parallel, which creates all sorts of new opportunities.
And then before I pass it to Juan, I'll kind of tee up the topic around cyber as well.
And Juan, you feel free to add a little bit to that, which is that obviously cybersecurity is a very big topic around quantum, both offensively and defensively.
And you mentioned this phrase, Q-Day, which is sort of the day, the sort of theorized day, although it will come at some point, of when RSA encryption is no longer relevant because quantum technology can break it.
You said IBM and many others have standards that they've been putting out there and guidance and guidelines.
And everyone is not just increasing the specificity of their standards and their guidelines, but they're moving the timelines up.
You got to have your PQC strategy, your post quantum cryptography strategy in place.
