So why the podcast, Michaela?

Honestly, because there is still a big gap between what students think careers and employability should look like and what they actually look like in real life.

Exactly.

We hear a lot of things along the lines of, I don't have the experience.

Everyone else seems to have it figured out.

I don't have an internship yet, so I must be way behind.

Or I don't know what I want to do, so there must be something wrong.

And the truth is, none of that is actually true.

But we completely understand why you feel that way, especially when you're in the middle of it.

So what is this podcast

and what isn't this podcast?

Careers advice can sometimes feel a bit overwhelming, a bit formal or a little bit too polished.

Yeah, absolutely.

And the podcast is going to be intentionally not polished.

We want it to be light, we want it to be friendly, human, talk about the real conversations other than what you find in the textbook.

Yeah, absolutely.

We'll talk about employability, skills, interviews, assessment centres, networking, CVs, AI, career decisions, all things that students ask us about every day.

And we're going to do just that, but we're going to do it honestly.

We're going to talk about the messy bits.

We're going to talk about the stuff that didn't go to plan, the twists and turns and the stuff that doesn't show up on people's LinkedIn profile.

Yeah, so what to expect? You can expect myth busting, practical tips you can use, real stories from students, alumni, employers and our colleagues as well.

And most importantly, we want you to feel reassured as a student.

You don't need to have everything figured out.

Careers aren't linear and employability isn't about ticking the perfect boxes in a perfect order.
