Capt. Marty's Outer Banks Fishing Report & Stories
Oct 7, 2026 · 9 min · 8 segments
We are getting deeper and deeper into the Outer Banks fall fishing season and it is becoming obvious in a lot of ways. Not too busy of a day on the water yesterday but there were fish caught for those…
Back in the day, when I was fishing at Oregon Inlet Fishing Center, one summer, we went 74 straight days in a row, fishing with Nevin Weskett on the Sundancer.
And it's the same way now, especially right here on the doorstep of the deer and duck hunting seasons.
It's some of the best times as a working waterman is the fall of the year, especially when you've been really busy all summer long and you've been running a lot of trips.
A lot of these guys will also guide duck hunting parties as we get more into the winter.
take the kids out deer hunting, maybe go out and do a little drum fishing in the sound, and that's just the way it is.
So we have nothing to report offshore, but we had some pups and some puppy drum and bluefish the last few days in Hatteras for the near shore and the inshore boats, and then yesterday the boats fishing inshore or near shore at Oregon Island had a little bit of a mix.
Both organella and hatteras have had a great run on the tuna, black fins and yellow fin tuna.
And it's going to pick right back up when we get through this little bit of weather.
We'll probably get some rain, some wind out of that a little bit by the time it gets to us.
