- *How much do my child's friendships actually shape who they become?* - *What can I do beyond the conversations and the boundaries to pray the right people into their lives?* - *How do I trust God…
Number one, understand how much friendships actually shape your child.
The friendship your child forms, especially in the formidable years, have a profound impact on who they become.
Proverbs 12, 26 tells us, A righteous man is cautious in friendships, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.
Choosing these friendships is just not about companionship.
It is also strongly influenced.
The values, habits, language, attitudes, and beliefs of the people close to your child quietly become part of who your child will become.
Research on child development consistently shows that peer influence, especially in middle and teen years, rivals parents' influence in shaping behavior and identity.
So basically, this means your child's friendships are not just secondary concerns.
They're the primary ones.
They deserve the most faithful and consistent prayer.
So this week, you're going to take five minutes a day, five minutes.
Set your timer and pray specifically over your child's friendships, the close friendships and the emerging ones.
Ask God to show you what he sees in each relationship and what he wants you to pray over.
Number two.
Pray the right people in before you pray the wrong ones out.
Most moms pray reactively about their child's friendships.
Something worries them and then they pray.
But the most important prayer posture is proactive.
Asking God to bring the right people into your child's life before the wrong ones even have a chance to show up.
He is fully capable of orchestrating new connections, bringing in the right friends into the child's classroom, the neighborhood, their church group, their team groups, exactly at the right moment they need to be there.
When you pray that proactive prayer, you partner with God in shaping your child's social world.
With friends your child currently has, ask the Lord to bless them and their families.
Ask for protection and special moments that they get to remember for a lifetime.
Pray over the influences that your children are exposed to and the friend circles that they are developing.
