- *Am I praying the right things over my child?* - *Does my prayer actually make a difference in who they become?* - *How do I pray with confidence when I feel so uncertain about so much?* This…
I want to tell you about a moment that changed the way I saw my role as a mom.
My child was going through a really difficult season.
Just one of those stretches where everything felt a little harder than it should have been.
Their behavior was off.
The attitude was heavy and very disrespectful.
I kept trying to fix it with tools that I had like conversations and consequences and trying to rebuild connections.
Nothing was landing the way I had hoped.
One night I sat on the edge of their bed after they fell asleep and started praying.
Honest words from the heart.
All about who I wanted them to become.
About the godly life I wanted for them.
About the person I could already see as a glimpse underneath all they were going through in this hard season.
Something shifted in me that night.
I realized I had been trying to shape my child's character entirely with my own hands, my words, my strategies, and my effort.
I had been leaving out the most powerful tool available to me, prayer.
At the time, I was using it as a last resort, something I did when I ran out of all other options Instead of the first thing that I did for my child.
From that night forward, I started praying differently, more intentional, more specific, and definitely with more faith.
I want to give you what I found because sis, your prayers over your children and the life that you want, the godly life that you want for them are some of the most powerful words you can speak over your children.
So let me ask you this.
When was the last time you prayed specifically and intentionally over your children and and who you are guiding them or how God has given you the vision of who they are going to become.
Because that's what we're doing.
We are taking the time to honor that the kids are going back to school.
We're getting back into the school routine or maybe the traditional routine we have when the kids aren't in the school season.
Even if you have little ones at home, they still can benefit from intentional prayers.
And often as a mom, you are so busy taking care of all of the needs of that they have, that prayer is not always the first thing that comes to mind.
