Stop Calling It a Slow Season - 5 Signs It's Actually a Strategy Problem

Every business owner that I've ever talked to over the years has said the same thing at some point or another.

"We're just in a slow season," especially when we're struggling, things aren't working like we, we used to or that they used to.

And, um, and it m- real clear, I wanna make sure that we're separating things.

I'm not referring to seasonal, um, like normal seasonal behavior.

For instance, if you live in a, an area anywhere in, in and around, um, uh, that has influx of people like, uh, vacation areas or whatever that has actual seasonal, um, uh, operation.

If you own a, um, lawn care business and you're in the, you know, the northern areas of, uh, New York and Michigan and Chicago, whatever, clearly you're, you do more work in the summer if you're focused mostly just on landscaping and lawn care than you're...

I'm not referring to that.

We're talking about when things are, um, we've gone through a challenge, and they're just not working the way...

The business is not profitable as the, as it was.

Um, there's just inconsistencies.

We'll get into that.

That's what we're referring to.

And so oftentimes we'll use the moniker of, "It's just a slow season, it'll work itself out," and that, my friend, is hyper, hyper dangerous.

Proverbs 14:23 says, "All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty." So when we just kind of excuse ourselves from the work, "Just a slow season, it'll work itself out," that can lead to poverty.

By the way, also one of the reasons why so many businesses struggle.

They don't actually hug the strategy part, um, for a lot of different variables, um, but we've got to.

Otherwise, we run the risk of it just simply not working out.
