Um, so yeah, tell me a little bit about this exhibition.
It's your first exhibition together, I think your first exhibition as a duo at all.
Um, and it's called Ceremony, which by the way is a great name for an art exhibition.
Makes a lot of sense.
Um, but, but, like, what does this mean for, for you guys? Um, what was the idea? Was it, like, a collaborative effort to come up with this title? Um, what did the process look like, and, and what are you trying to say with that?
Well, maybe we can start, Alexis, by saying how we got the name.
Mm-hmm.
Um, we were kinda just, like, spitballing, like, things that, like, you know, we felt kind of, um, involved both our practices, and we were talking about, like, you know, kind of, um, elements of ritual and kind of like the way, like, you know, the process be- So yeah, I spitballed the, uh, the, uh, the title Ceremony because I had a painting titled Ceremony, and that title came from the New Order song Ceremony, and also just kind of a reflection on, um, painting as a ceremonial act and the kind of idea of, like, the painting process being kind of sacred and, um, more sacred than the actual object of the painting.
Yeah.
O-
And yeah, maybe, like, obviously we wanted to do an exhibition together.
But, uh, we were, like, thinking of what would make us g- uh, go to, like, together in a room and exhibit something.
And we could have called the show, like, Recent Painting, or, um, we could have called the show, like, m- just, like, uh, Number One or Alexis and Thomas, but we d- we wanted to, like, um, add a layer of poetry or, like, something on it, so, um...
Right.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah.
In, I believe that, uh, another Thomas, Thomas Antoine Gerard, is that how you say it?
Yeah.
