Well, there were two different things that were going on kind of in my life at that time.
I had this apartment that was $700 a month and I lived there for one year and they raised the rent on me.
At the end of the year, they sent me a notification that, you know, hey, your rent is going from $700 to I think it was $800 a month.
You know, I'm trying to go out and do the club thing at night like most young people and meet, you know, the opposite sex.
So the first thing that I did was I went out and I looked at houses for sale and I ended up finding a little rundown half duplex across town.
It wasn't exactly in the best part of town, but if I bought this thing with, I think it was $2,000 down, in those days, you know, first time home buyer, my mortgage payment, including insurance and property tax would be $700 a month.
And then the other thing I started doing was I started kind of driving around on the weekends looking at secondhand stores at the time.
And this was the early part of kind of the big eBay boom that happened in the early 2000s where folks probably don't remember now, but in those days, you could go to a garage sale, you could go to a thrift store, you could find an item that was like $5 and sometimes they didn't know what they had.
