Welcome to the first episode of Blue Jean Country Queen. I'm starting with one of the wildest stories I've collected during my years in the country music business: how I introduced Billy Joe Shaver…
Why did you decide to start a podcast now?
I feel like I needed to start a podcast because a lot of times now on social media you've got three seconds to catch people's attention, and I'm more of a slow burn.
You should start a podcast and tell some of those stories." Blue Jean Country Queen, it's a song on my second record.
But I, being from Texas, being a honky tonker, I feel like I've always been drawn to denim.
And I feel like when I have on denim, I'm most comfortable, and that's how I wanna tell my stories.
And like I said, I have a song on my first album called Blue Jean Country Queen, and it just, it felt right.
What kind of stories will happen here?
There will be stories about country music, being in the business for 20 years, being married to someone in the business.
But also I wanna bring a spotlight to women particularly in the music business.
And I have a round that I'm gonna be also putting on at a place in Nashville where I'm highlighting other female singer-songwriters and their life stories, and then the songs that they get from those life stories.
You're gonna learn about my life, but I want you to also learn about some of the other lives that are shaping country music.
