Throne of Glass Summary

So we start off, we meet Selene Sardothien, and she is being pulled out of the salt mines in Endovir, where she's been enslaved for a year.

She's pulled out by Kael Westfall, Captain of the Royal Guard.

And let me just tell you, he's one of my favorite characters.

I love him so much.

And you just the same way that throughout the entire ACOTAR series, I was like Lucian, Lucian, Lucian.

I love Kale.

I'm glad we got that out of the way.

They're trying to take her through this building and taking her up and downstairs, down different hallways, trying to confuse her.

But it's just making her more familiar with her surroundings.

She is then taken before the crown prince of Adderley.

So when she is brought before this crown prince, Selina is forced by Duke Parrington to bow before the prince after she refuses to bow.

we then meet Dorian Havillard, who is the crown prince of Adderlyn.

So Dorian says that forcing someone to bow is pointless.

It defeats the whole purpose of them bowing, which, yes, makes so much sense.

Kael then tells Dorian of the time that Selina tried to escape and how she managed to kill her overseer along with 23 sentries and almost make it to the wall before she was knocked out.

She wasn't killed, though, because the king of Aderlyn, which is Dorian's father, ordered for Selene to be kept alive so that she can feel the torture of Endovir that much longer.

While this is all happening, Selene is able to put together that they need something from her.

And Dorian says that he has a proposition for her.

So Dorian tells her that this competition to be the king's champion is starting soon.

And he wants her to be his champion in this competition.

So she will earn her freedom if she's the king's champion.

for five years of service.

So after five years, she will gain her freedom and she bargains with him for four years instead.

Selena is then freed of her chains, given a proper bath, proper meal.

The wounds on her back are cleaned.
