On the OBX we work to live rather than living to work!

So let's talk about growing up on the Outer Banks.

Back up a little bit.

What would you say? You said you played soccer.

That's kind of an understatement, isn't it? You played a lot of soccer.

We went just to give you guys a background.

Braley and Nina.

One of her good friends.

They were standouts on the team, and they decided to go to Virginia.

How old were you, 11, 12?

It was sixth grade when we tried out, like in a sixth grade.

So Virginia Beach is an hour and a half away.

And so I said, okay, if you girls make the top team, we'll do it.

But if not, playing here is just as good.

And, of course, they made the top team.

And all the way through high school, we drove up three days a week, sometimes less, sometimes more.

It was a commitment, and it took up a lot of your childhood here, just practicing.

How would you say growing up in a small town like the Outer Banks? I mean, the beach is a very small community.

How did that affect your ability to excel in sports?

Well, I feel like you really had to... have a passion for it.

There wasn't like

opportunities where you could just like jump into something.

You, I mean, I kind of learned like you have to try, you have to practice and you have to do things that other kids aren't doing down here, which I got a lot of backlash.

I feel like when I first joined a Virginia beach team, because I feel like growing up here, it's very Not cliquey, but...

It's a small community.

It's a small community, and some might get butthurt that you're not on their team, or I don't know, and so...
