As a culture, a lot of us are worried about where AI is going to go, and you see a lot of frightening stories in the headlines these days.

Within banking, there is a much more rooted reality that gets down to whether AI will get out of control, and simply this: it is the presence of guardrails.

Amanda Licona Crocker of Swivel spoke convincingly on that point, and I'm gonna bring up a few other things she had to say on the show today that really made sense to me.

Go too far in one direction or the other with AI, you'll lose that balance, and if you don't have guardrails, there's no hope for any balance at all.

She also mentioned the topic of employee education, and wow, that is something to consider because some employees are gonna come into a situation where you have AI and think they know everything because they use it on ChatGPT for social reasons, or that they are afraid and don't know anything and so back away from it.

It's really the responsibility of good, smart financial services companies to get in there and educate their employees, teach them what they need to know, take away the intimidation factor, and reward them as they continue to upskill.

And that comes to the third point, which is that really, there is a misconception that using AI means getting rid of people.

None of this is easy to grasp right away and takes a lot of time to implement, but it's worth taking a closer look at because AI is not going anywhere anytime soon.
