Interstate 95

The operator picked up after the second ring.

I practically yelled as I explained a stranger at a rest area knew my name, had tried to get into my car, and was now following me south on Interstate 95.

She wanted my precise location.

The mile markers were passing too quickly for me to read them.

It was the early 90s, and I was actually working with a childhood friend, a guy I had grown up with.

And we're driving around the lower end of the 47 precinct on the service road of I-95, right by Gun Hill Road.

And we see this 18-wheeler pulled off to the side with these two hillbillies, and they got the back of the truck open.

and they've got all this furniture and they got this sign up that says carolina furniture discount prices so i look at my partner and i go these guys got to be kidding me it's like there's no way i says this stuff is either stolen or counterfeit but we didn't really get involved in it we drove off So a couple of weeks later, it's the Super Bowl and I go to the same cop.

So we go over his house and I noticed she's got all this new furniture.

And I said, Maria, well, where'd you get this? She goes, oh, you're not going to believe this.

Brittany, let's take a look at I-95 going south at exit 21.

Construction leaves only one lane open, as you can see here.

So some pretty heavy delays as you travel onto I-95.

But this is nightly construction.

So if you take I-95, I'm sure you're used to that.

Downtown delays after a signal problem was addressed on the 2, the 3, and the 5 trains.

You look good coming inbound at the George Washington Bridge.

And Ryan gets away.

Uh, he runs away, gets in his Nissan Xterra and he's caught 45 minutes later going North on the I-95.

And he wouldn't, uh, He would have been on the lam indefinitely if not for a witness who took down the license plate.

Presumably this witness heard the shot, saw the guy running away, and so thought that was suspicious.

Pretty much doesn't do anything.

A little sidebar.

We've since in just a couple of weeks ago, the sheriff gave an interview saying that it was flock cameras that helped them catch Ryan Ruth on the I-95.

I know that's the subject of controversy.

that's part of it i mean people complain about that people complain about the lack of economic growth in the in connecticut the fact that you know the the job market there's not enough new jobs being created so kids who grow up here can't necessarily find a job here and then they have to go move someplace else and a lot of them would like to live in connecticut and connecticut is you know is a hostile environment to corporations too much regulation too much taxes um And they also complain about our roads.

I mean, we have Interstate 95, which is – we have the most congested part of Interstate 95 in the country, which goes along the coastal corridor from the New York line in Greenwich up to Bridgeport.

It can take – It can take two hours to drive a 25-mile trip on this road during rush hour.

I actually live in Connecticut, but I work in New York, and I can drive to Manhattan in less time than I can drive to Fairfield.

just becomes asphalt racing.

That's what I told Schrader before we started taping is some of it like down east I-95 like where Lakeview is and stuff.

The problem is you get that sand in the air that you got at Darlington and Rockingham and If you don't get good – Lakeview's got good clay.

I mean, they've done a good job there.

Meh, traffic's looking fine out there.

I believe this is looking southbound, so everything's looking pretty good out there.

Speaking of gay men, driving up here yesterday to get my hair cut, and I was in traffic on I-95, and I was behind traffic, in traffic behind a nice BMW 3 Series that had a license plate that read Femme Top.
