Navaratri Fall 2026 - Day 1: A Presence Beyond Name and Form

Heart knows, but mind might need something finite that it can wrap itself around.

A name, a form.

So we give a name.

Ma is the name of unconditional love.

That person doesn't care what name you give.

Mom, dad, uncle, auntie, friend, doesn't.

If we as humans think of that presence as love, Ma is the name of their unconditional love.

Now we have given a name, Ma.

Then came many other names, thousand and eight names.

Devi Shakti has thousand and eight names.

each name represents one particular characteristic.

Mahakali, Mahalakshmi, Mahasaraswati, these are just the names.

The Shakti is the same, but when it's directed towards removing the darkness from our life, removing the obstacles, removing the cloud of ignorance.

It's named as Mahakali.

Mahalakshmi, when the darkness is removed, that radiance, the light, the shine appears automatically.

That's Mahalakshmi.

Mahasaraswati, name of the wisdom.

These are the three names that in our observance we call upon.

Names are many.

Most of the other parts of India, there are nine different names, no Durga.

One for each day.

But the truth is, she is one.

There is one presence.
