In this episode, Fiona shares the story of her first birth, a pregnancy that quickly shifted from low-risk to highly medicalised following the discovery of her son’s omphalocele. What began as a…
Hello.
Thank you.
Thank you so much for having me.
Oh, it's a pleasure.
So can... just to get started, can you give us a little bit of information about your family?
Sure.
So I'm Fiona.
We are a full-time traveling family.
So we set off from Brisbane in May of this year, and we're traveling around Australia in our van.
So I'm a mama to two children, two amazing earth angels.
I've a boy, he's five and a half, and my daughter turned three in July.
So yeah, we are, you know, all about exiting the system and the matrix, like living free, and we're, we're in Central Queensland at the moment and just about to head off on a big trip out west.
But yeah, we're just making our own rules, living life really on our terms now, which is fantastic.
And how precious for your children to be experiencing that when they're so young.
Yeah.
Oh, it's just...
it has been the best thing in bringing us closer together as a family.
Yeah, we're getting so much more quality time, whereas we were really sort of disjointed before.
They hardly ever saw their dad, 'cause he was always really busy working and, you know, sort of things just became a bit too mundane with the routine.
And although I planned on homeschooling anyway, it was just all a bit too predictable.
So to have this and we, yeah, really be able to just sort of go out and just choose whatever we want to do whenever we want to do it is pretty amazing.
It's incredible.
