I've actually done one-pager websites for therapists that are just starting off who are like brand new with their practice, who aren't necessarily ready to dive into like a full five, six-page website, but they know they want something more customized.

I have absolutely worked with clients to help build their brand from the very beginning.

And the good news is we get to keep it simple, right? We don't overcomplicate the branding.

We make sure that we have a website that feels like you, that helps people understand your personality, feel what it's like to work with you, and have a website that just feels customized.

But I also know for a lot of therapy clients, before they are introduced to me, before they're kind of in my world, a lot of therapists think the best option for them is to purchase a website template.

And I understand it because as someone who has designed templates before, I understand the marketing behind like how easy it is to just purchase a template.

You have this idea that it's just going to be something you can customize a little bit and then you can launch it easily and it's ready to go.

The reality is there's actually a lot more work that goes into customizing templates.

As someone like if you were considering purchasing one, you might have these ideas and thoughts that it's going to be so simple.

I've actually spoken to multiple people who have purchased templates and then the template ends up sitting kind of in their email, either completely untouched or they went in, they made a couple of changes, but then they felt overwhelmed because they had to learn how to actually go in and use the platform and like understand how to make the edits and the updates and like If they want to change things around on the template, they all of a sudden now have to learn how to use the website program.

And so it's this really interesting space of it feels like it's the easiest option, but it actually ends up being so much more work.

Here's five things that I need you to know before you dive in to create your first website.
