Emily WalkerHostSo, well, having talked about the weather, I think it's important that we start out with just we see you guys for those who are farming down south and on the
those areas will have heard or seen that Southland, South Otago and the West Coast have been dealing, but especially Southland and South Otago, have been dealing with like really, really wet conditions.
They're looking, Southland has declared that it was the wettest winter since 1980 with winter rainfall recorded at 62% above average.
And you sort of, you forget it because we have like the rain come through and we think, oh yeah, great to get that rain, et cetera.
And I follow a few awesome farmers down in Southland and just like the constant, rain and that stuff just starts getting to you doesn't it after a while it's a bit like a constant dry and any of either it just you know you're putting wet weather gear on day after day after day you're slogging it out every job is just made harder be it you know carving lambing whatever stage everyone's at it's just harder um it's just the relentless nature i think which is kind of heavy as well isn't it? Yeah, that's a good way to explain it.
And then just dreary, like looking out and not seeing the sun, we're all affected by vitamin D, you know, and that would be pretty tough for them.
So, um, the rural coordination group has activated or coordinated across the region, focusing on people, animals, feed and property.
And so this includes people such as Rural Support Trust, MPI, Federated Farmers, Deer and Zed, Beef and Lamb, Environment South London, others.
If people are finding it a little bit tough, please do reach out for help.
Tracy Henderson did this, the amazing Tracy at Legendaries right down in Invercargill.
