Cameroon upset Nigeria Super Falcons in 2026 WAFCON quarterfinal

Now, coming into this match, I actually did think that Cameroon was going to win.

And if you don't believe me, you can go ask another colleague, Ashurko Magisha.

We had a discussion this morning and she was asking me who did I think was going to go through.

I said, you know what? My head is telling me that Cameroon is going to beat Nigeria and Ghana is going to beat Malawi.

And my justification was that Kim Roon have actually impressed me this tournament.

Nigeria, there were at least two matches where I felt a little bit shaky with them.

And you can blame that on a whole host of things.

Some people are going to blame the coach, Justin Murugu, even though he won a tournament with them previously.

Some people are going to blame the federation, of course.

You know, there are always like bonus issues.

We know that they didn't really receive the money for last year's Wafkang.

And I believe they only received the deeds of the homes they were promised like in training camp or when the tournament began.

But again, I think that we have to give credit to Cameroon.

Again, I told her I'm going to follow my head, Usher.

I told her I'm going to follow my head and say that Cameroon is going to go through.

Deep down, I was scared of picking against Nigeria because they have 10 stars above their crest.

And there is something about tournament heritage, collective psychology that for me that exists.

But again, if we use our heads, Cameroon were the better side.

And for the next match, I think Ghana are the better collective side.

Malawi, of course, have more star power.

But Ghana, if you talk about 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 players, particularly at this stage of the tournament where teams are starting to pick up niggling injuries and depth really matters, I think Ghana are the better side than Malawi.
