For Long Player this week, Johnny spoke to **Dillon Jo** about their debut album, *'Guard Dog'* Thanks to **NZ On Air Music!**…
Uh, this is the second song on the album, and it's called Shiver.
[singing] I used to think life was a train with no direction.
I used to feel like I couldn't recognize my own reflection.
I used to bleed to bathe in my rivers.
rivers.I sold my broken mirror.
I see clearer now.
You told me that there's million things to care about.
The air is cold but I don't shiver now.
I used to be blind to everything.
And it was the first song that we recorded as a band.
Uh, we'd only released one song prior to releasing Shiver in 2025, and that was called It Was You, which was an acoustic ballad.
Uh, but Shiver's kind of about that feeling of not being afraid anymore to, I guess it sounds cliché, but follow your dreams.
Um, and when I met Biddy for the first time, she was really pushing me into, you know, continuing to write songs, and I feel like she was a really positive, um, experience in my life at the time, and we both wrote Shiver together, and it's kind of just about taking a chance on yourself, and I guess it was about taking a chance on the band and just doing what felt right.
I sold my broken mirror.
I see clearer now.
You told me that there's million things to care about.
The air is cold but I don't shiver now.
I'm sold, but I feel young somehow.
