I actually got into trains because I could see a strategic opportunity to build alliances.
I was struck when we were challenged by a guy on, in a, in the labor movement to green a 2008 paper on the Northern TransCon.
Here's a guy on the other side of an issue who's offering me an opportunity to do something to make him an ally of ours.
And what's really weird is, even though our highway system is publicly paid for and subsidized, our rail system is not.
It's owned by private corporations who are trying to extract profit from it, and so we're kinda missing all of the juice, all of the opportunities that could come if that infrastructure actually prioritized public purpose.
