Being in school, when you got to college, or back in high school, how was your experiences in high school being Native?

Complicated.

I went to Westland High School, which is like an hour from Portland, but it's very much so...

A lot of white people, very rich white people, I'd say.

I remember joining what we had, it was called our Affinity Club, which was basically all of the multicultural clubs all together, but we didn't have any sort of Native American student union or anything like that.

And I think it was my junior year, I met the first ever Native student that I had met in like the three years of going there.

And I was like, oh my God, I need to start like a NASU or a club or something.
