14 at the time, so I was busy playing Nintendo and PlayStation, chasing girls.
9:38
So that was our first major success.
9:41
big ticket item investment that we made.
9:44
Yes, we had had a couple of homes prior to that, but this was like our, this was our big foray and we intended to raise our kids there.
9:52
And this was an established home that was built in the early eighties and had great bones.
9:56
And we were going to spend some money on it and tidy it up.
9:59
But we essentially bought that house at the peak of the market in September, 2007.

I

What were your takeaways from the conference?
2:06
Yeah, I mean, that's a great question because, you know, when you go to an event like that, I find it very, very immersive.
2:14
You know, it's three full days and there's so much going on and so much energy and vibrancy.
2:21
You know, there's talks going on on the main stage, but then you've got all these like second and third tier conversations and presentations going on and then there's everything going on in the event.
2:32
in the main hall with all the booths and all the different service providers so there's just so much to take in over that three days and i kind of found myself uh michael having to really just reset and digest uh you know in the in the week following uh just to really process all the learning because uh at the time it's just It's just high energy, connecting with everyone, you know, listening to so much information, taking everything in.
3:00
And so anyway, I feel like I've got to that point now where I can kind of crystallize my biggest takeaways.
3:06
And I'd say the first thing was definitely the power of the Bitcoin community, you know, and how...

you know trace to you now whether they can prove that you still have it you haven't lost your keys anything like that that's part of the beauty of bitcoin but do you think we're going to see more of this in australia do you think over the next say five years some of the on ramps and off ramps will be you know the door will continue to close more and more and more until you're kind of reliant on circular economies to accumulate Bitcoin?
14:37
Now, what do you think does that incident, that event mean for self-custody, Bitcoin in general?
14:48
Well, I think it's going to set back self-custody temporarily.
14:55
Now, I don't believe self-custody is dead.
14:58
I mean, there's a lot of people out there who are saying, I will never self-custody my Bitcoin again.
15:03
I'm going to leave my Bitcoin on an exchange.
15:05
I'm going to buy an ETF.
15:07
I'm going to buy a treasury company.

What... conversations have you really been having recently with people? Has that changed in terms of people aren't seeming as keen or interested in talking about Bitcoin at the moment when ironically, it's the best time to be looking?
6:37
Look, I think the thing about considering Bitcoin as a retirement asset, and I'm certainly in the camp that You know, I think, you know, Bitcoin is the ultimate retirement asset and I'll explain why.
6:48
But I think last year, this time last year, you know, there was a general rush or a sense of FOMO where the stars were all kind of aligning and everything was pointing to Bitcoin going on this kind of monumental bull run.
7:00
And there was just this over... exuberant kind of sentiment out there amongst the community, not just people who really dial into Bitcoin, but just everyday people.
7:12
Everyone seemed to be talking about Bitcoin and it's going to $100,000 and $200,000 and $300,000.
7:18
There was some saying it could even go to half a million dollars.
7:22
And people get wind of these little messages, right? And they feel like, well, shit, I need to get on this train.
