Of cane, of cane
5:55
... yeah, of sh- of sugarcane, sorry.
5:57
So he's away at work, and my noono was still alive at the time, and he's like, "Oh, do you want a job to do?" And I was like, "Yeah." So he's like, "Oh, go slash the water furrows of the paddock So it's the dry season.
6:09
It's [laughs] fucking bone dry.
6:11
It's like the stupidest fucking thing you could do, and I'm out there like not knowing any better, just sorting along, slashing a cut paddock.
6:21
So anyone that's grown up around sugarcane or knows sugarcane, after you cut, the paddock's just full of trash, which is ripe for burning.
KnucklesHOST
9:19
[laughs]
9:19
So I'm just fucking sorting down the road, like obviously it's a like '93 Land Cruiser that's doing its best to tow [laughs] this water tanker full of water.
KnucklesHOST
2:26
Yeah.
2:26
And it's a private airport, so there's no one, there's no one there.
2:30
And we would go pass a bottle and get drinks, and they eventually banned us from drinking because of the, the different events that happened.
2:38
So because we would get on the piss, we'd like...
2:42
You know, you've just been at work for a week underground, you'd try and sink some tins before the plane and then on the plane.
2:50
And, um, what, what people would do, because they knew like it's a long flight, they're probably gonna need to piss, is, is they would bring like an empty Gatorade bottle-
KnucklesHOST
7:50
Yeah.
7:50
And the next thing he just slams into the floor and I was like, "Fuck, we're dead.
KnucklesHOST
3:38
[laughs] Yeah
3:39
... um, and I hated my job.
3:40
I fucking ha- so much, but it was just where I was.
3:43
And like, I didn't know what else to do.
3:45
Like I was like, I spent so long becoming a sparky and then learning all this other shit.
3:50
I went and did instrumentation too.
3:51
I was like, I might as well do it for a while.
KnucklesHOST
6:49
Yeah, yeah.
KnucklesHOST
1:28
[laughs]
1:30
But it's worked, like, for definitely in your favor, and even in my favor because so many people love you for it, and in the mines everyone loved you.
1:40
Not many people liked me 'cause I didn't really talk much.
1:42
Like I, I was respected, but I didn't have a heap of friends, whereas you were friends with, like, everyone.
1:47
And so it's just been interesting to watch that progression work for you in life through, through business, and I never, I never had enough respect for, um, networking before because I, I, I worked in the mines.
2:05
I knew that, like, it's not what you know, it's who you know.
2:08
But I never, I never respected it enough until I watched people like you and, like, o- other people like Mark Tobin, Jeremy Latimore, like people that are, are, are people persons and are so good at networking and just the, the value that that can provide to your life.
KnucklesHOST
7:03
[laughs]
KnucklesHOST
4:11
Yeah, I'm running around like a fucking headless chook at that time.
4:13
Yeah.
4:14
Yeah, and I th- I thought like my mom and dad and stuff flew down for it, but I was like, "Oh, no, you guys just sit in the crowd and have a good time." Not realizing I probably should've been like, "Come and chill with me so I don't have to just sit there." And I got so in my fucking head before the fight that it probably didn't help.
4:30
But anyway, like maybe 20 minutes before the fight, Yungu showed up, who was the guy in my corner who's a pro boxer.
4:36
And then my other mate, Jara, showed up.
4:38
But I was...
4:38
They were like struggling to find the place.
KnucklesHOST
6:02
[laughs] Yeah.
